It Only Takes One Person: A Campaign Devoted to Positivity

Image
Can you give me something to smile about? Well, Colgate can. Colgate started their Colgate Optimism project campaign in October of 2020 to promote optimism and overall positivity for one another. The social media platforms that have been used for this campaign are Instagram , Twitter , and Facebook . The purpose of this campaign is to spread optimism and make an impact with just a smile. The target audience of this campaign was looking directly at Gen Z(those under the age of 24), from a study conducted by Colgate – noticing that this age group seems to be more pessimistic than other age groups.  According to this study by Colgate, “ three quarters of Gen Z Americans forfeited major life opportunities (education, career, collaboration) and more than 80 percent report[ed] having zero opportunities to work together to make an impact in their communities, despite three quarters believing it's important to do so.”  This is one person, Aminata Touray , a Georgetown Unive...

Competing vs. Collaborating online

Joseph Gordon-Levitt on how attention online lacks creativity Joseph Gordon-Levitt, a well-known actor, has had his share of dealing with social media and how it’s becoming more and more of a competition to see who perceives themselves “better” online. Gordon-Levitt discussed two pretty powerful dynamics of paying attention and getting attention, in his Ted Talk titled, “How craving attention makes you less creative.”   On social media, people tend to strive for the attention part and not actually focusing in on one thing. Like Gordon-Levitt said in his Ted Talk, he is able to pay attention when he’s acting but once he logs on to Twitter, for instance, he becomes more and more hungry for attention, which in turn interrupts more of the creative process – competing with peers, wanting follower count to exceed a certain number, and just overall being unsatisfied with it all has become just some of the reasons why social media has made the process of thinking outside of the box, toug...

Chipotle's Social Media Listening Audit

Social Media Audit on Chipotle Introduction: Chipotle Mexican Grill or often just stylized as Chipotle, is a Mexican fast-food restaurant that specializes in having customers build their order. Whether it's a burrito or a bowl, the whole idea is to have the individuals create it themselves. I must admit, Chipotle's bowls have my heart, but they also have a pretty popular presence on social media, which is constantly attracting more people. On Twitter, @ChipotleTweets ,  Chipotle is consistent in their overall personality brand – which shows how much they sincerely care about their customers, especially if an inconvenience occurs and being able to communicate back effectively to make sure that does not happen again. Chipotle, which has a solid 1 million followers, on Twitter is clearly doing something right to gain such popularity, among the general public.  CLIENT REPORT of Chipotle  Chipotle lives by their motto of “ Real Ingredients. Real Purpose. Real Flavor ,” wh...

Social Media & Attention

Social Media is Making Us More Hungry For Attention Social media is absolutely changing the way people consume content and it’s becoming more competitive. Competitive, in the sense, that more of the entertainment entities are instilling various strategies to appeal to people all while staying relevant. It seems simple, but it’s actually really competitive. With the incorporation of various outlets, such as YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, users can post whatever they feel the need to post (within guidelines). In the entertainment industry, social media may not seem that far off from this dynamic of content being seen and so forth.  In the entertainment industry,  something interesting I read was how Snapchat is utilizing their platform to push  tv shows ,  I never would have thought  a platform that is meant for quick snapshots would produce a full length show. But, with the changing world and how everything is on our phones, this seems like a...
